There has been a lot of bad and depressing news as of late, so instead of sharing more dispiriting images on the Internet, it's best to lighten the mood with some heartening pictures of humanity at their best or in this case, their newest. Nothing in this world can encourage a smile like a baby, and no one else can capture these newborns quite like photographer and artist Anne Geddes.



Anne Geddes is an artist and photographer known for her stylized images of sleeping babies in different costumes and settings. You will probably have seen at least one of her photographs in print media and the Internet. Her style of photography has become so popular that other photographers have adopted it for their own.

At first, many people discouraged her from focusing solely on babies for her photography, but it's always been an interest for her ever since she could remember, and today babies and motherhood have become her trademark.



Over the years, she's refined her technique and added more flair to her photographs while still keeping them relatively simple. She's become quite adept at setting up her lighting and choosing her equipment, but admittedly it's getting the little subjects in the right mood that sets her apart from other photographers.

For some of her more complex shots, she's had to order custom made props such as oversize pots in order to set a unique look to her portraiture. After a little post-production, her babies appear reborn into a new and magical world.


Aside from being a famous photographer, she's also a keen businesswoman; she's published numerous books and calendars which have sold over 18 million copies around the world. Her website has also been fairly popular, and for those who are crazy for cuteness, it's hard not to exit her site without being tempted to download a wallpaper or purchase one of her books.

Despite all her success though, it still boils down to her trying to convey the beauty and purity of babies and to show what precious gifts children are. Even if her baby pictures hadn't been so widely received, she would still continue to photograph them.
